SimpleKindOfLovely's May Movie Must See List

May Blockbusters

In order to properly avoid studying for my upcoming finals I have decided to write a looonnggg detailed journal about this summer’s upcoming blockbusters.

A summer for Sci-Fi and Sequels!  Basically, Summer marks my favorite time of year.  Sure, the flowers outside are blooming, the temperatures are rising, and the school-free fun has begun, but it also marks the beginning of the summer blockbuster movie parade.  As a film student, I center my entire year around the notion that these movies will rule my hours and my imagination, making me care more about the world on-screen than the one I am living in for four whole months.  This year will be no different.  There has been a long drought of good film since this past August (except for Slumdog Millionaire, GO see it!), and I for one cannot wait for this Friday May 1 for all of the gooey action, romance, and sci-fi….whatever to start back up again.  Movies in May you must see ...

Bamboozle Road Show

I went the Bamboozle RoadShow last night and had a ton of fun.  It really was a worry free concert, which almost never happens.  My photos are okay, which is good considering the fact that I was almost trampled basically throughout the entire show.  And considering the fact that I wasn't using my professional camera.  So here goes the whole night's description.

It rained as we were waiting outside, which I have to say was tons of fun (note the sarcasm in my tone).  Then they finally let us inside, at which point t became mad chaos as everyone ran to get their spot in front of the stage.  No one sat down, which made me mad because it was an hour til showtime, thus I had to stand for an extra hour.  Oh and while we were waiting...This drunk slutty girl in front of me and my friend squatted down and peed on the floor.  I AM NOT JOKING.  She squatted down, lifted up her dress and relieved her drunk/high/inebriated self on the pit floor in front of everyone.  All the while, her friends were taking pictures.  Guess she was having one hell of a 4.20!  But eventually everyone caught on and someone from the venue came to clean up her mess, kicking her out of the show as she deserved. It's one thing to be so close together in a pit, it's another to be dancing in someone's urine.  Just saying.

Anyways, finally the show started.  Mercy Mercedes was alright, this may sound mean, but they have much room for improvement.  All my pictures of them suck so moving on... I had bought a couple of nevershoutnever!'s songs before the show, so I knew he was good, but I was not expecting him to be THAT good.  I can't wait for him to make an actual album.

Also, he sang the Beatles' "I Want to Hold Your Hand" and it was like WHOA! Watch it below.

Then it was The Cab's turn and they didn't disappoint.  It was weird because more people knew the lyrics to nevershoutnever than they did to the Cab which I found very odd. But whatever... Also, why don't they ever perform "One of Those Nights?"  They played it on the Rock Band tour, but I haven't seen them play it since.  Ian was amazing on the guitar.  Johnson looked bored behind his kit.  hmm what else?  Oh and emisforily I totally Bounced Bounced in your honor and I tried to catch up with them after the show to demand to see the "Take My Hand" music video that I was in, but alas only Ian came out and I was too late to talk to him.  Here was my favorite shot from their set.  It's of Cash, he was right in front of me hamming it up all night.

Then it was FTSK and boy has their fan base grown in the last year.  A year ago I went to see them at a small show and no one was there to see them.  At all, and this time it seemed as if most of the crowd was there to see them instead of WTK.  They were so awesome, they did a little act at the beginning with voiceovers in which they acted out a western with their toy guns.  It was pretty rad.  See Jonathan on the floor?  Kyle killed them all.  I think they are getting better and better every time I see them live.  I left the pit after a couple of their songs, because I did not want to get kicked in the head anymore.  I caught up with them afterward and got photos with Caleb, Kyle, and Jonathan.  My friend Heather had never done an autograph sess before so I had to help her out and figured I might as well get more pictures with them. Unluckily for me, the friend I was with took awful pictures with me and the guys. While the photos I took of her were amazing as always.  Exhibit A below.  A picture I took of my friend and Jonathan.

Cute right?

Exhibit B:

the picture she took of me and Jonathan....It's really close up and he's not even looking at the damn camera!  oh well. and then in my pic with Caleb I decided to throw up the thumbs up to which he followed suit and she cut off our thumbs! grrr...

And then finally it was We the Kings.  and they rocked as always covering Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours" and Jimmy Eat World's "The Middle."  But other than that, there was nothing out of the ordinary in their set.  I've seen them like three times in the past six months, so they've kind of lost their newness to me by now.  But they were awesome none the less.  Can't wait to hear new stuff from them in the future too.  I think it's time. The link below is for the video I took of them playing "the middle"

Now I can look forward to Believers Never Say Die.  I am going to two shows, the one in Indianapolis and one in Columbus, that will be one heck of a week. Cannot wait.
